Bay pantry boxes
Autumn 2019 we packed scholarship pantry boxes in the Bay so families who could not stay the whole lake week still cooked grain-and-vegetable meals at home. In autumn 2019 the last autumn round left San Rafael with millet, kombu, and a handwritten recipe card for pressure-cooked beans.
The boxes used the same crate habits as camp move-out: heavy items low, glass wrapped, a packing list taped inside the lid. Volunteers who had worked the Pinecrest cleaning crew said it felt familiar, just without the pine needles.
A pantry box is a small move. A household move is a large one. Both fail when jars roll and rice goes damp. If you later carry a whole kitchen across town or across an ocean, keep that inventory card.
We still have spare crates in the San Rafael office if you are staging a teaching-kitchen kit for next summer. Write to us before you tape the first box.
