Move-in week at Pinecrest
During 2024 we opened with the heavy-lifter crew and the move-in cleaning team. Tables came off the truck first, then the commercial stove fittings, then a mountain of beach toys. The $500 work-study discount is real sweat: you feel it in your shoulders by Thursday.
We staged the teaching kitchen so cooking-class assistants could find knives without opening every crate. Labels faced the aisle. Miso buckets sat on the coolest shelf. The bulletin-board artist sketched the first daily schedule in chalk before the rest of camp even arrived.
Move-in week is the closest we get to a professional relocation. Gear travels from storage in the Bay, up the mountain, and into cabins that were empty the day before. Treat your own household moves with that same inventory list.
A few work-study alumni later packed whole kitchens when they changed cities. They said camp crates taught them more than any cardboard-box tutorial: pad the stoneware, keep grains dry, and never leave a wok to rattle loose in a van.
